Lose You arrives in a flurry of pulsating Euro-disco, luxurious instrumentation and insistent vocals. Channeling 80s pop in a way reminiscent of La Roux, Lowly Light has created something that feels urgent and energised. The brass, bass and keys all come together to form a crisp and polished piece of uplifting pop, sitting in contrast to the fear and stress of losing someone. Sometimes you have to believe things will work out because the alternative is unbearable.
Lowly Light is the pseudonym for Matt Gorny. Coming from an indie-rock background, Gorny has written music and recorded vocals for dance artists for the past ten years but never saw it as his genre. In 2020, he started to push himself outside his comfort zone and, as a fan of left-field pop, embraced the opportunity to combine infectious melodies and tight percussion by leveraging electronic dance production techniques.
Lose You was a song originally created for another musician, but after it went unused, Matt found himself unable to stop thinking about it. Instead of leaving it on the shelf, Gorny decided to claim it for himself. Check out the results below:
